WHAT WE DO
Band of Veterans and Friends are teaching guitar at Stony Brook University. Band members met with veteran students who were active in the SBU Veteran Services dept. The response was great, and we will conducting more classes in the future.

On March 29, 2025, BOV & Friends performed at the 50th Celebration Marking the End of the Vietnam War. On this date members of our board presented a check to Rena of “Cooking For Long Island Veterans”, in the amount of $1,000.00. This organization mission is to ensure that homebound veterans with mobility or health limitations receive healthy meals and groceries to their home.

On 8/29/24 at the Oconee diner of Islip, Robert Schlagater speaks at the Weekly Islip Rotary Club meeting. The topic of discussion was how the "Band of Veterans & Friends" supports Veterans through the healing power of music, guitar, singing and performing.
We offer free guitar lessons to veterans. After 5 lessons each student will receive a free guitar. Below is our first veteran to receive his free guitar. Adam Jankowski, USAF and USAR 1960-1988.
